 and 8 km north from Waterford City, Kilmacow consists of an Upper and Lower Village approximately 1 km apart. The population of each of the villages is just under 700, while that of the Kilmacow area as a whole totals over 2,000.

Pubs in Kilmacow include The Den (form. The Foxes Den), The Thatch, Irishes, Cooke's Bar (reopened), and Carroll's (Sean Tí). Cooke's has re-opened after damage done was repaired.

Education

Kilmacow has three primary schools: a mixed school at Strangsmills, a boys' school in Dangan, and a girls' school in the Upper Village.

Sport

Kilmacow has a hurling team which competes in the Junior Hurling Championship. However, they have failed to win the championship since 1956. Kilmacow also has a soccer team.
Kilmacow in recent years has started up a camogie club ranging from under 8's to juniors.
