Killoe is mainly a rural parish but has three villages - Ennybegs, Cullyfad and Kilnatruhan.

The major attractions that Killoe has to offer its visitors, are its tranquility, large areas of bogland and the magnificent views from the Southern and South-Eastern slopes of Cornhill (the highest point in County Longford).

Killoe is the ancient Gaelic for Church of the Yew.
