Kiekrz is a part of the city of Poznań
in western Poland, situated on the northwest edge of the city, adjoining Kierskie Lake. It has several holiday sites and sailing clubs, and a significant amount of mainly detached houses. Kiekrz is one of the 42 osiedle
s (neighbourhoods) into which Poznań is divided for local government purposes (see Administrative division of Poznań
).
Kiekrz and it's immediate surroundings are situated around three lakes: the Great Kierskie Lake (Wielkie Jezioro Kierskie), the Small Kierskie Lake (Małe Jezioro Kierskie) and the Strzeszyńskie Lake. The valleys of these lakes were formed by melting glaciers thousands of years ago.
The Great Kierskie Lake is currently the largest lake within the limits of Poznan. It is a very important reservoir for water sports, mainly sailing and in the winter season sports are the dominant iceboats. The climate is mild, winds blow mostly from the western direction.

Geography and climate
Kiekrz is a village located 12 km from Poznan in the north-westerly direction. Currently, in terms of administration Kiekrz is divided into two parts. The "rural" part - the housing estate of Chwaliszewo, Kierska street and all streets adjacent to it along with the village of Pawłowice form the sołectwo belonging to the Municipality of Rokietnica, Poznań County.
