that allows you to build a rocket and launch it into space.

Gameplay

The game allowes players to design, build, launch, and pilot a rocket. The only possibilities currently are suborbital, orbital flight and a moon landing. The crew of the rocket that the player controls currently consists of Bill Kerman, Bob Kerman and Jebediah Kerman. Jebediah Kerman has achieved legendary status with people who play the game due to his personality which is to smile in the face of certain death. Within the game there is currently one planet (named Kerbin) which the player launches from . There is also a moon (named Mun) which the player can land on. The sun in the game can be orbited, but is not an object, only a point of light. More mission possibilities are planned in later releases.

Inconsistencies

The physics was implemented in a realistic way, but with one major exception; with the addition of multiple gravitational bodies it would become increasing hard to calculate the effect of every object on the players spacecraft. Due to this, the craft only experiences the gravitational pull of the object which is strongest. For example, there is a definite point where you start falling to the Mun as opposed to Kerbin, with an instant trasition, no Lagrange point, and no pull from ANY of the other bodies. It is important to note however, that the objects still orbit others on a rails system. So although the Mun would be the only body effecting you, it will still be moving relative to Kerbin.
There's also risk that the capsule will explode when hitting the ocean at high speed.

Planned Features

According to the game's website, several features are planned for KSP in the future. Among them:
  • More planets and moons
  • EVAs
  • Space Station
    Space station
A space station is a spacecraft capable of supporting a crew which is designed to remain in space for an extended period of time, and to which other spacecraft can dock. A space station is distinguished from other spacecraft used for human spaceflight by its lack of major propulsion or landing...

    Construction
  • Space Program Management. Players will have to manage costs, recruit and train crewmembers and repair buildings if rockets crash into them.
