. It opened in 1854 when the railway was extended from Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds. At its peak during the period 1860 to 1890 there was a station master and three other members of staff. It closed to freight traffic in 1965 and in 1967 became an unstaffed halt on the Cambridge-Ipswich line
