, having been a stronghold for Yemeni kings due to its advantageous position. It is situated atop a plateau at 2750m above sea level. The sole entrance to the town is via a single gate controlled by the police 24 hours a day.

Inside this town where can the history talk. The old Mosques, houses, the old gate of the town and the old wall are hanging in the clouds.
