Katango were a synth-pop band formed in Auckland in the early 80's. They released 3 singles, all with video releases. They won the Shazam Golden Microphone competition in 1985, voted for by TV viewers.
Drummer Nick Ferneyhough has since gone on to a solo music career under the name Crofton Orr.
