The school has approximately 750 pupils in its attendance. Opened in the mid 1960s and in 2005 Park Dean, Marland Fold and Hill Top Special schools joined the Kaskenmoor campus founding the new special needs school New Bridge

Although the school has struggled in recent years to provide a satisfactory level of education and teaching, there have been great strides to improve the schools performance - particularly in 2006.

Kaskenmoor has been earmarked by the council as a possible Academy School which could see the school closed and merged with other high schools in Oldham
