The Karyakshama Seva Vibhushanaya medal awarded to the commissioned officers is a reward for long, meritorious, loyal and valuable service of proven capacity in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force
, and, is governed by the proclamation dated 07 January 1986. The Decoration shall not confer any individual precedence but will entitle the officer to the addition after his name of the post-nominal letters KSV. It replaced the Efficiency Decoration
in 1972 that was awarded to volunteer officers of the Ceylon Army therefore it is somewhat similar to the British

who by or after 22 May 1972 have completed 18 years qualifying service as hereinafter defined shall be eligible for the award of decoration.
