, its buildings were rebuilt and emigration occurred since that time. Kardaras became connected with asphalt in the 1970s. Electricity, radio and automobiles were introduced in the mid-20th century, television in the late-20th century and computer and internet at the turn of the millennium. The direction of the population was headed for the abandonment as it was 5 in 1981, but outsiders revived the population in 1991 and prevented it from abandonment. The recovery did not last but dropped only by over a half in 2001. One time it had the fastest growing community in all of Arcadia and one in the nation in percentage. In 1997, the ex-community (now a village and a municipal district) joined to become the newly formed municipality of Levidi. A great population loss occurred between 1991 and the 2000s.

Geography
Much of the area around Kardaras are forested and makes up of pine, spruce and cedar trees, the Mainalon Ski Center lies 7 km to the west and where the barren and unvegetated parts covers the remaining area including the center of the village.
