This region is covered by "Pusta", which is similar to a high embankment. In the early days, river Yamuna was just a few steps from it. Due to the danger of flood, the Pusta was built. In Karawal Nagar there are many Almond processing factories also, and all the Almond that is imported from America and Australia is sent in Karawal Nagar for processing and Almond kernels are taken out of Shelled Almonds in here. These almonds are then sent to Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk for trading and selling purposes. Many importers send their almonds here for processing.
The major part of imported American and Australian almonds are processed in Karawal Nagar.
Many areas of Karawal Nagar are still like slums, there is no water supply, No sewage system etc. But still it is developing.
