Kapaa High School

Kapaa High School is a public high school based in Kapaa, Hawaii on the island of Kauai
.
In 1997, the school was split due to the growing population. On top of the expansion of the Kapaa schools such as Kapaa Elementary School, supporting K through 5th grade, Kapaa Middle School was newly created only a few miles away and was planned to support grades 6, 7, and 8th. Kapaa High School and Intermediate was currently running grades 7 through 12. With the break off the school was now only 9th through 12th grade and renamed simply Kapaa High School.
In 2004, Kapaa High School decided that with the successful regards to Kapaa Middle School's uniform dress code that it would also implement its own uniforms. A line of shirts, jackets and sweaters were created to help create unity and safety at the school.
On top of the school mascots each class picks its own mascot to represent their particular incoming year. For example the mascot for the class of 2002 was the seal, class of 2003 was the dragon, 2004 was the "honu" or turtle, 2005 was the tiger, 2007 was the "mo'o" or gecko . These mascots were often the main symbols in the class banners for assemblies and class competitions.

History
Established in 1883 under the reign of King David Kalakaua it was first built directly above Kealia River and then moved up the hill to where it currently stands on Mailihuna Hill. In 1938, after the school was officially declared as a Junior High School and graduated its first 66 twelfth-grade students in 1946.In 1997, the school was split due to the growing population. Campus
The campus boasts the stainless steel sculpture Hukilau by Wayne Zebzda and the mixed media sculpture Seven Pillars of Wisdom by Carol Kouchi Yotsuda.Mascots and School Pride
Kapaa High School is home to one of the original Warriors mascot in Hawaii. The school sported the colors of green and white, which is reflected in the campus buildings, art, uniforms, and banners. - Hawaiian Club – Club created especially for those who originally hail from the Hawaiian Islands; Provides school & community service through various activities in an effort to help preserve the Hawaiian culture.
- Interact Club – Provides school & community service through various activities, i.e. fundraising for UNICEF, school campus & beach clean-ups, etc; Kapaa High's largest club; A convention is held every April, where the various Interact Clubs across the state of Hawaii come together to learn & participate in various service projects; The only Interact Club in existence on the island of Kauai.
- Japanese Club – Provides school & community service through various activities in an effort to help preserve the Japanese culture.
- Key Club – Provides school & community service through various activities, i.e. fundraising for UNICEF, school campus & beach clean-ups, etc.; A convention is held every February, where the various Key Clubs across the state of Hawaii come together to learn & participate in various service projects.
- National Honors Society – Club devoted to learning leadership and helping the community through various service projects; Composed of only juniors and seniors who hold a GPA of 3.5 or above; Club does at least one community service project per quarter, i.e. after-school tutoring for High school & Elementary school students, school campus clean-up, etc.
- Spanish Club – Provides school & community service through various activities in an effort to help preserve the Spanish culture.
