History
Commissioners were appointed to locate a State Aslyum for the Blind in 1864 and the city of Wyandotte (now part of Kansas City, Kansas) provided 10 acres (40,468.6 m²) of land. The Kansas Legislature appropriated $20,000 to erect the building in 1867 and it was opened September 7, 1868.External links
