Interesting facts

It is known for its extremely fertile land fed by pure mountain aquifers and the cultivation of grapes, cotton, coconuts, eucalyptus, and silk. There is an abundance of varied wildlife including endangered species from the nearby hills. It is within 2 km of Chikkarayappanahalli lake which is the basin for the river Akavathi. Tipu Sultan's dominion over the Nandi Hills area extended to this region, his summer retreat. Mahatma Gandhi is said to have stopped here to eat and take rest en route to Nandi Village where he spent time in convalescence.
