. If Kanefer does date to the 4th dynasty
and is a son of Sneferu, he may have followed his brother Nefermaat I in office as vizier and served during the latter part of Sneferu
's reign. He would have in turn been succeeded in office by Nefermaat's son Hemiunu who held the position at the beginning of Khufu
's reign.
The name of Kanefer's wife is unknown, but is known that she was a priestess of Hathor
. She bore several children to Kanefer - Kawab, Kanefer II and Meresankh.
