History

KUPL-FM began on June 6, 1948 as KPOJ-FM on 98.7 FM and moved to 98.5 FM on March 27, 1964. On August 15, 1968 KPOJ-FM changed call letters to KPOK-FM. On July 11, 1973 KPOK-FM changed call letters to the current KUPL-FM and aired a beautiful music

format until March 16, 1984, when they switched to their current country format as "K98, Continuous Hit Country". On September 4, 1997 KUPL-FM moved from 98.5 FM to 98.7 FM.

In March 2011 the station reverting to branding itself simply as "98-7 KUPL, #1 For The Most New Country."
