KTVN signed on the air on June 4, 1967, originally as an ABC affiliate, but took over the CBS affiliation in 1972, after disputes between the CBS network and its affiliate at the time, KOLO-TV

Currently, KTVN broadcasts a total of 20½ hours of local newscasts each week (with 3½ hours on weekdays and one hour and thirty minutes on weekends). Unlike most CBS affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone
