. Prior to the current format, the station was a Rhythmic Contemporary Hit Radio station known as KITY, or Power 93 until 1990.
From 1990 to 1995, this station went through a number of format and call letter changes. It was English-language adult contemporary KSRR, "Star 93," then upon the divestiture of New City Communications to Tichenor Media KSRR flipped formats from a Adult Contemporary format to a Spanish Adult Contemporary format known as KSRR, Exitos en Español 92.9FM, then La Romantica FM 93 before it began "Estereo Latino." in 1995. The current KROM calls comes from its days as La Romantica.

8/26/1990-3/27/1993 Power 93 KITY would change calls to KSRR as "Star 93" and go back to a Adult Contemporary format.
3/27/1993-08/1993 KSRR would become "Exitos in Espanol KSRR FM 92.9" the station's new format would be Spanish Adult Contemporary
08/1993-06/1995 KSRR would change call letters to KROM and the format would shift toward Spanish love songs as "La Romantica FM 93"
06/1995-Today KROM would make the flip to "Estereo Latino" with a Regional Mexican
format.
