History

The station was assigned the call letters KFMQ-FM beginning in the 1970s. Before that it was known as KFOR FM. On 1992-10-30, the station changed its call sign to KYNN, then on 1995-04-01 to KGDE, then on 1995-04-03 to KYNN, and on 1997-04-17 to KGDE. On 1998-04-24 the call letters changed again to KZFX, then on 2002-02-01 to KLTQ, and finally on 2007-12-28 to the current KOOO. KOOO was previously assigned to a Dallas, Texas station (which was also known as KEWS-FM for a time). Before that, KOOO was a country music station in Omaha, simulcasting on 1420 AM and 104.5 FM.
