KJYK was known as K-Joy FM 94, and was one of the stations that carried Chuck Cecil's "Swinging Years" for many years in Tucson.
KJYK 94.9 FM switched calls to KMXZ-FM 94.9 and changed formats in 1988. They started out as Soft AC station "Cloud 95" in 1988 and later evolved into Hot AC "Mix FM" in the mid-1990s.
