The station was assigned the call sign KVWO on June 9, 1978. On October 11, 1979 the station changed its call sign to KUUY and on December 9, 1996 to KMRZ. On March 21, 1997 the station became the current KGAB. KGAB's previous call sign KMRZ is now in use for a station in Superior, Wyoming
