In his memoir of his time as Indian coach, John Wright, recounts the story that Yadav was the beneficiarry of mistaken identity - the selectors had meant to select his namesake, Jai Prakash Yadav. Jyoti he was told "wore a nonplussed expression throughout the trip." Whether or not this story is apocryphal, Yadav has not gone on to represent India.
