Dolan started playing soccer at the age of 14 and participated in the Asian Cup two years later in 1975. Between 1978 and 1998 Dolan played in 18 full internationals. She was Australian captain on 6 occasions and played in the World Invitational Tournament in Oceania in 1983 and the pilot Women's World Cup
