João Mendonça Azevedo was one of Portugal
's best football goalkeepers. He used a trademark cap while playing.
, where he would play from 1930/31 to 1932/33. He played for the two seasons after at Luso Barreiro, before finally moving to Sporting Clube de Portugal, in 1935/36. He would represent Sporting until 1951/52, for decade and a half, winning several National Champion and the Cup of Portugal titles. After a season outside the field, Azevedo spent a final season at Oriental, in 1953/54.
He earned 19 caps for the Portuguese national team
