Angel Negro was a student film, Olguín filmed it while it studied cinema in the University with only a budget of $25,000. This film was released in the commercial theaters in 2000 with great box-office and a mediatic event in Chile by its unusual advertising campaign. This film is mixture of slasher and giallo was selected in an infinity of international festivales, was in the festivales of fantastic cinema of Montreal “Fantasia”, Portugal “Fantasporto” and the festival of cinema of Catalonia “Sitges”, among others. Angel negro was released on DVD
in the USA by the makers of the cult film Troma.
Soon in 2002 Olguín releases Sangre Eterna aka Eternal Blood, film of vampires with a psychological plot, that involves the world of the gothic movements and role playing games. With a budget of only $300,000, this film released the use of the special effects and make-up in the Chilean cinematography. The second film again of Olguin achieves success in the box-office. Later it received the Prize for the Best Special Effects in the festival of Fantastic Cinema of Malaga
, Prize for the Best Actor and Best FX Make-Up in the festival of Cinema of Terror of Los Angeles “Screamfest LA” of the hands of Stan Winston
. Soon it film was released in DVD in the USA by Fangoria
under the title Eternal Blood. This film called the attention of the outstanding director Guillermo del Toro
who at the moment is helping Olguín in the production of his third Chilean film Caleuche: The call of the sea in whose cinematographic production they will participate to outstanding Chilean actors like Leonor Varela
