of St. Agnes of Bohemia Church from 1983 to 1996, during which time he also served as dean
of Chicago's Lower West Side
(1987-1996).
On January 23, 1996, Manz was appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop
of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago
and as the Titular Bishop
of Mulia by Blessed Pope John Paul II. He received his episcopal consecration
on the following March 5 from Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, with Bishops Wilton Gregory and Plácido Rodriguez
