On 28th June 2011, the board of Cable & Wireless Worldwide accepted the resignation of Jim Marsh and announced that John Pluthero, current Chairman of the Company, was to step into the role of Chief Executive.

On 15th November 2011, Cable & Wireless Worldwide replaced Pluthero as chief executive less than six months after he took the job, after the beleagured telecoms giant swung to a £433m half-year loss.
