Considine's performances with his club brought him to the attention of the selectors of the Cork senior hurling team. He was included on the team for the National Hurling League

Tipp wrested the Munster title from Cork again in 1991, however, Considine found it difficult to maintain a place on the team. He was a non-playing substitute again in 1992 as Cork defeated Limerick

 to take the Munster title. He also played no part on the field of play as Cork were subsequently defeat by Kilkenny

In 1993 Considine was back on the team as Cork reached the final of the National Hurling League. A three-game saga with Wexford

 ensued, however, at the third time of asking Cork were the winners. Cork hurling went into decline for the next few seasons and Considine left the inter-county set-up.

Managing Cork

Considine was appointed caretaker manager of the Cork senior hurling team on 12 March 2009 He succeeded Gerald McCarthy and defeated Dónal O'Grady

 for the position. In his first match as manager he beat Clare

Personal life

He currently lives in Kilbrittain, West Cork. He trains the Cork Minor Team. He is married and has four children - Alison, Darragh, Jessica and James. In his spare time John enjoys reading. John especially enjoys watching The Simpsons.
