Connor was born January 1, 1845 and after joining the United States Army attained the rank of corporal, serving in Company H, 6th Cavalry Regiment in the American Indian Wars. He participated in combat in Texas
on the Wichita River
on July 12, 1870, and received the Medal of Honor for what was described as "gallantry in action" there.
He died in 1907 and is buried in the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery
