John Coltrane House was the home of saxophonist and jazz pioneer John Coltrane

John William Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz...

 from 1952 until 1958. He continued to use the house as an alternate residence to his New York home until the end of his life. On his death in 1967 the house passed to his cousin.

It was declared a National Historic Landmark
