. The school was established in 1910 and serves students in grades 5–12. The school principal is Steffen Morgner. The assistant principal is Veronika Pißler.

History

The school originally was established as School in Bernsdorf named after the district in Chemnitz in which it is located. Its name changed during the 20th century. In 1992/1993 it received its current name Johann-Wolfgang-von-Goethe-Gymnasium.
