Jerusalem Cinematheque

Jerusalem Cinematheque is the Cinematheque and National Movie Archive, which works in Jerusalem.

The Cinematheque was founded in 1974 by Lia van Lear, and housed in a glossary. in 1981 passed a new building in Hebron rd. near to the Valley of Hinnom. Cinematheque building four halls screening movies, and also has Thai movies rich film archive of the Cinematheque. The Cinematheque is screening of commercial films, Israeli films and foreign films, as well as films which avoid business cinemas screening due to economic and other considerations (such as film "Jenin, Jenin" and Shakshuka Method "), as well as films from the Collection of the Cinematheque.

In 1984 Van Lear founded the International Film Festival, held annually in July, and has become an important and prestigious event in my life of Israeli cinema. The festival opens viewers a window to world cinema of the past year and presents the best part. Every year in December was held at the Cinematheque Jewish Film Festival.

Cinematheque are courses, seminars and workshops on film. Also operates a multimedia center for Holocaust Research.

 the Cinematheque building began extensive renovations and operations buildings temporarily transferred to the nation. In July 2007, with the opening of the Jerusalem International Film Festival, Cinematheque return again to Hebron Road. As part of renovations at the Cinematheque two halls were added in two originals, and are used for commercial screening.
In 2008 the first organized workers Jerusalem Cinematheque organization employees working force after a brief struggle involving litigation and court precedent work, was the first workplace Cinematheque at the young workers' organization signed an agreement for collective bargaining.

National Israeli Film Archive

in 1981 opend the Archive of the israeli films at the new building of the Cinematheque.
