 in 2002 and again in 2004. She represented the former Merri Ward, when she was elected to Yarra Council in 2002. In 2004 she was re-elected to represent Langridge Ward.

Jenny Farrar helped initiate the Asset Management Policy for the City of Yarra and has successfully Chaired the Asset Management Committee since its inception in 2003.

She also held office as Chair of the Planning Committee in 2005 and Chair of Finance and Governance in 2006. As Chair of these committees, Jenny Farrar played a major role in the Yarra's Heritage Review, the review of Council's Municipal Strategic Statement, the development of the Urban Design Framework for the Smith Street Precinct, the review of the City's finances, and implementing a community consultation process in relation to Council's budget.
