Before her acting career, Jaye's previous jobs included modelling shoes and underwear, working in an Indian restaurant, and making and selling jewellery. She lists collecting diamonds as one of her hobbies.

Jaye is also a mezzo soprano singer and has considerable sporting ability: she is an accomplished gymnast, trampolinist and javelin thrower, and holds a brown belt in Karate
