who competed during the 1960s. He won a gold medal in the 4 x 10 km at the 1964 Winter Olympics

Stefansson also won a silver in the 30 km event at the 1962 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships

on seven occasions between 1962 and 1969, only missing victory in 1967, when he finished second behind Assar Rönnlund
