Before turning professional Meyer had youth team stints at Bohemian F.C. and Hertha BSC before returning to Australia and playing for Brisbane Olympic and Eastern Suburbs.

On 30 June 2010, Meyer signed a one-year contract with the Brisbane Roar after manager Ange Postecoglou
