James Cook Boys' Technology High School is a boys' school situated on Princes Highway in Kogarah, Australia.

History

James Cook was founded in 1957 after Moorefield racecourse was demolished and the ground was divided into housing development and two schools: Moorefield Girls High School and James Cook Boys Technology High School, and St George TAFE. James Cook had an opportunity to become a Sports High School but decided to become a Technology High School. Queen Elizabeth II visited the school in 1970 (the bicentennial year of Australia's discovery by James Cook) along with her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Prefects

Prior to 2009, 12 prefects were elected from the year 12 group each year. The School Captain

, two Vice-Captains were selected from the 12 prefects elected after they had presented their speech. There are five year 11 Prefects.

There are also 3 junior SRC members from each year from year 8 till year 10.

The prefects have meetings on every second Tuesdays at lunch. In recent times the role of the greater prefect body has been rather limited, although the school captain and vice captain have many duties, including the captain's duty to run the weekly school assemblies. All prefects that are not part of the Prefect executives do canteen duty during recess and lunchtimes as well as toilet duty(locking and unlocking toilets.

Associated schools

Moorefield Girls High School is considered to be the female counterpart or 'sister school' of James Cook Boys Highschool, and has recently engaged in Prefect activities to organise a joint multicultural day. They are also thinking of other ways to make the two schools become engaged with other activities in the near future.
