, resulting in Selmes requiring twelve stitches after being punched in the head. http://www.leagueunlimited.com//team/article.asp?team=Sharks&sport=NRL&ID=9528 As a result Maiava was suspended until mid-season and fined for his actions. Selmes made his fist grade debut for the Sharks against Penrith on March 17, 2007 and he's expected to perform well in his first grade career.

Selmes was awarded the Sharks Rookie of the Year in 2007.
