The Italian general election of 1913, the first election with male universal suffrage
took place on 26 October 1913.
The Liberals
, that is to say the governing coalition (the former Ministeriali), narrowly retained the absolute majority in the Chamber of Deputies
, while the Radicals
came second with their best tally so far. Both groupings did particularly well in Southern Italy, while the Italian Socialist Party
gained eight seats and was the largest party in Emilia-Romagna
. The election marked the begininng of the decline of establishment liberals.
