. Expanding from direct care to encompass professional training and community-wide interventions, ITC has consistently evolved its scope to address broader issues and needs.

The mission of the Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC) is to create a continuum of care in the trauma field, response and preparedness, by leveraging diverse resources to initiate, prioritize, and optimize services. The ITC provides a comprehensive view of the trauma field, whilst working towards strengthening community resilience and ensuring national emergency preparedness. The ITC harnesses the collective knowledge, expertise and experience of Israel’s leading NGO's and government organizations - as no organization can do this work alone.

ITC, created in response to the intifada raging in 2002, is a unique partnership of experts view crisis response through a holistic lens. The organization mission derives from the understanding that the needs of trauma victims go far beyond the individual, encompassing family and community as well. In the 2006 Lebanon-Israel War, with resources and infrastructure stretched to the limit and disturbing images of northern residents fleeing south, it was starkly apparent that a massive new effort was called for: resources and talents of Israel’s disparate trauma-care providers must be harnessed into a single pool, and a robust framework for better and more efficient functioning of multiple governmental and nongovernmental efforts should be instituted. ITC heeded the call with the reinforcement of a nationally coordinated network for systemic and unified response.

ITC provides leadership, direction and resources before, during and after crisis. With a widescreen view, the ITC proactive network brings vitality and added value to ongoing national trauma efforts, cooperating with the Home Front Command and key government ministries, local municipalities, NGO’s and the private sector.

For example, in response to the Second Lebanon-Israel War, the Prime Minister's Office requested the ITC to spearhead, together with the Ministries of Health and Welfare, the effort to better organize, prepare, and mobilize communities for coordinated and rapid response to wide-scale emergencies. The first five established Resilience Centers have already become the central address for immediate pro-active intervention, training and real-time relief in the Gaza region. In addition, four ITC Resilience Centers operate in Kiryat Shmona, Nazreth, Safed and Map of Alarm Zones Nahariya.
