"Israel" is a song recorded by British rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees in 1980. The track was written by the Banshees and co-produced with Nigel Gray. "Israel" returned the band to a more rock-oriented sound.
The song was released as a stand-alone single in between the Kaleidoscope
and Juju albums and peaked at number forty-one in the UK singles chart
. "Israel" did not appear on a Siouxsie and the Banshees album until the release of the Once Upon a Time: The Singles
compilation, although some copies of the U.S. release of Juju
on PVC Records included a free copy of this single.
It was remastered in 2002 for The Best of Siouxsie and the Banshees compilation and it also featured in the bonus tracks of the 2006 Kaleidoscope reissue.
"Israel" was later covered by Nouvelle Vague
on their Bande à Part album.
