The meaning of the word “Iselilja” is uncertain. When asked in an interview, Gunnhild Sundli (vocalist for Gåte

) and Sveinung Sundli (fiddle, keyboards) said that they themselves do not know its exact meaning. A translation that has been suggested is “Ice-lily” (because “Is” translates as “Ice”, and “lilja” translates as “lily”), however it is also possible that “Iselilja” is a name (probably female), and has no meaning. The word is featured on the third track of the album, Knut liten og Sylvelin.
