Sponsoring intercollegiate competition at the 2-year college level, Irvine Valley College Athletics competes in the Orange Empire Conference, widely regarded as the nation's premier community college conference.

IVC Men's Soccer has twice been named National Champions among small colleges (1993 and 2003), and IVC won a historic four consecutive state titles in Badminton from 2002-2005. In all, IVC Athletics has captured a total of 13 State titles since the program's inception in 1993, the most recent by Women's Golf in 2010. Other highlights include Men's Volleyball with back-to-back State and National titles in 2007 and 2008, and Women's Badminton winning a state record 5th championship on their home court in 2009.

Premier among the Coaching staff is National Coach of the Year award winner Martin McGrogan in Men's Soccer who won his 200th career victory in 2008, placing him second all-time among the nation's community college soccer coaches. Tom Pestolesi has captured three national titles in men's volleyball, and is now turning his attention to his assignment as the Director of Volleyball and Head Coach of the Women's program.
