In 2005 Romanian minister delegate for trade, Iuliu Winkler, met the Irish trade minister Michael Ahern. In 2006 there were about 30,000 to 40,000 Romanians living and working in Ireland. In 2006 Ireland opened its new Embassy in Bucharest
