International Socialist Group (Scotland)

The International Socialist Group is a revolutionary socialist organisation based in Scotland which formed in April 2011. The group produces a monthly magazine, the International Socialist, and operates a website with articles and features on current events and socialist theory. The ISG participates in a number of campaigns such as Coalition of Resistance, the Stop the War Coalition
and the Defend the Right to Protest Campaign. Chris Bambery
is a founding member.
, then a Central Committee member of the Socialist Workers Party and the organiser of their Right To Work campaign, resigned from the party arguing, in his resignation letter, that it was ridden with factionalism, that he had learned about the founding of Right To Work from 'Party Notes' and that the party had no credible strategy to fight the government's cuts agenda. Bambery's resignation was followed by 38 members in Scotland with the intention of forming a new Marxist grouping north of the border. 50 ex-members of the SWP formed the International Socialist Group (Scotland) shortly thereafter..
The organisation is predominantly based in Glasgow but has expanded to Dundee, Edinburgh and Aberdeen as well.
