History

It was created in 1948 as the Southern Association of Southern Baptist Colleges. It then changed its name for the Association of Southern Baptist Colleges and Schools. In 2006, its name became the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities. It replaced the Southern Baptist Education Commission dissolved by the Southern Baptist Convention
