Since January 1, 1973 it provides scientific background of the solid state electronics and optics in Bulgaria.

In February 16, 1982 the Institute of Solid State Physics accepted the name "George Nadjakov Institute of Solid State Physics".



Directors

Milko Borissov, professor, member of BAS is the first Director and creator of the Institute of Solid State Physics (1973-1991).

Nikolay Kirov, professor, D. Sc. is the second Director (1991-1999).

Divisions

Theory, Matherial Sciences, Nanophysics, Micro- and Acoustoelectronics, Low Temperature Physics, Soft Metter Physics, Laser, Athomic, Molecular and Plasma Physics are the devision in the Institute of Solid State Physics.

Laboratories

Electron-Phonon Interaction Laboratory is the oldest laboratory on physics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is a successor of Georgi Nadjakov Personal Laboratory



Physical Problems of Microelectronics Laboratory has based on the old Department "Silicon", headed by Professor Jordan Kasabov, corresponding member of BAS.
