Institute of Modern Politics

Institute of Modern Politics is an independent policy institute based in Sofia, Bulgaria, EU. It is registered under Bulgarian legislation as a public benefit, non-profit foundation. Its team is multidisciplinary and consists of legal practitioners and scholars, social and political science experts, and economists. Its stated mission is to "be a leading source of independent research on legislative and government policies, and based on that research, to promote informed debate and to provide innovative, practical recommendations that advance good governance and human rights in Bulgaria".

Publications

Institute of Modern Politics produces regular 3-monthly monitoring reports and ad-hoc statements and recommendations on parliamentary conduct and legislative developments. Its analyses and assessments are made from human rights and good governance perspective.

IMP is also an active factor in Bulgarian constitutional justice - Bulgarian Constitutional Court in a number of its resolutions determines IMP as an interested party in important constitutional cases (more than 7 cases as of November 2011), e.g. Case No 3/2011, Case No 4/2011 etc.

On February 8, 2011 IMP addressed the European Commission and the European Parliament with a "Special Report on Acts of Government and Security Services in Bulgaria which Threaten or Openly Violate Citizens' Rights and Freedoms"
