The village of Industry was a settlement in the township laid out in 1836 by William McCallister, though a post office had been established in 1833.

Industry was home to an archaeological dig in the 1960s Along the banks of the Ohio River between "Barclay's crossing Bridge" and "Merrill". Native American remains were found. There is debate as to whether these constitute an "Indian burial grounds".

History
The borough was organized as the Township of Industry in 1856 from an electoral district named Industry that comprised portions of Ohio Township and Brighton Township.
