From 1989 to 1992 Indrek Erm worked in the state design institute Eesti Maaehitusprojekt (Estonian Rural Design). From 1992 to 1996 he worked for the Künnapu&Padrik AS architectural bureau. From 1996 to 2000 Indrek Erm worked in the Urbel&Peil OÜ architectural office. From 2000 to present he has worked in the Emil Urbel OÜ architectural bureau.
